Jamal Walters is a public health professional from Augusta, Georgia. A proud graduate of A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet High School, he began shaping his career path early through his involvement in the Paine College Upward Bound Program.
Jamal went on to attend Fort Valley State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology, followed by a Master of Public Health from Fort Valley State. His educational foundation reflects a strong commitment to advancing health and science in underserved communities.
Professionally, Jamal has gained valuable experience across multiple agencies, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Meat Inspection program and Georgia’s Environmental Protection Division in watershed management. For the past four years, he has served as an Environmental Health Specialist with the Georgia Department of Public Health, where he continues to strengthen his expertise in environmental health and community wellness.
Looking ahead, Jamal plans to pursue his Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) credential as he continues to grow as a leader in the field. His recent acceptance into the 2025–2026 Region IV Public Health and Primary Care Leadership Institute represents an exciting opportunity to expand his knowledge in health solutions management and further contribute to improving health outcomes across Georgia and beyond.
