Rochelle Roberts is a driven public health leader with more than 15 years of experience advancing large-scale, data-informed initiatives that strengthen systems and improve health outcomes. She began her academic journey at Middle Tennessee State University, earning a degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biology, which provided a strong scientific foundation for her public health career. She later earned a Master of Organizational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University and is an alum of the Commissioner’s Leadership Academy, where she grounded her leadership style in boundary-spanning principles.

Her approach blends strategic vision with servant leadership—building cross-sector coalitions, empowering multidisciplinary teams, and converting complex challenges into actionable solutions. Rochelle’s career spans environmental health, STD surveillance, chronic disease prevention, cancer control, and cardiovascular health, always with an emphasis on equity, scalability, and measurable outcomes.

As State Dementia Director for the Tennessee Department of Health, she leads statewide dementia and brain health strategies that integrate research, policy, and community engagement to deliver sustainable impact. She has launched professional education programs, secured sustainable funding streams, and advanced data-driven decision-making to strengthen aging and dementia care. Recognized for bridging silos and navigating bipartisan environments, she develops collaborative frameworks that endure beyond funding cycles. Her expertise is leveraged through service on state and national advisory councils and professional networks.

At the PHPC Leadership Institute, Rochelle seeks to expand her capacity to lead complex, cross-sector initiatives, enhance her influence within government systems, and explore innovative approaches to build healthier, more connected communities for aging Tennesseans.
