Britan Norris serves as a Clinical Applications Coordinator for the Family Health and Wellness Division at the Tennessee Department of Health. She supports Tennessee’s Evidence-Based Home Visiting (EBHV) programs reaching thousands of families across all 95 counties. She brings a unique perspective, having walked alongside families as a home visitor, supported staff as a program supervisor, and now collaborates to shape systems and data used at the agency, state, and national level.
She is deeply passionate about the power of EBHV as a preventative service and a relationship-based approach changing the trajectory of families’ lives. Her work is grounded in the understanding that providing support to caregivers ultimately benefits and strengthens entire communities, a perspective supported by data.
With a strong foundation in both counseling and data, she’s committed to telling the full story behind the numbers. To her, data is not about compliance, it is a powerful tool for accountability, advocacy, and equity. She uses numbers to identity needs, highlight successes, and advocate for change reflecting the lived experiences of both families and staff. She believes in the mission to protect, promote, and improve the health and well-being of all people in Tennessee. She sees leadership as something that starts from within and believes even small shifts can create meaningful ripple effects.
Through participation in the PHPC Leadership Institute, she aims to enhance her leadership skills, acquire practical tools to promote systemic change, and collaborate with peers dedicated to advancing health equity and community well-being.
