Amber Johnson is a highly motivated and results-driven Emergency Preparedness Director with the Georgia Department of Public Health District 3-3, Clayton County Health District. She has a proven track record of developing robust public health response plans, orchestrating strategic emergency preparedness, and building strong partnerships to enhance community service value. Her expertise lies in situational awareness, data integrity, and resource and program management.


Previously serving as Medical Countermeasures Coordinator and Emergency Preparedness Specialist, Amber trained health department staff, coordinated with state and local partners, and maintained compliance with CDC Operational Readiness standards. Her leadership during the COVID-19 and Mpox responses included resource tracking, supply chain coordination, and community engagement through Point of Distribution programs with local organizations.


With a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Southern New Hampshire University, Amber has extensive experience in applying Emergency Support Function 8 (Public Health and Medical Services) strategies to analyze and manage incidents. She is skilled in developing and maintaining emergency response plans, managing equipment and supplies, and fostering community engagement and education. Prior to her career in public health, she worked as a pharmacy technician for six years, gaining valuable healthcare experience. A lifelong learner, Amber holds several National Incident Management System certifications and is also certified in the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) and as a Morehouse School of Medicine Community Health Worker.
