Matt Coleman is a native of Covington, Kentucky, and a proud alumnus of Western Kentucky University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001 and a Master of Public Health in 2003. That same year, he obtained his Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification, marking the beginning of a dedicated career in public health and wellness that has spanned over 24 years with last 9+ being at the Tennessee Department of Health.
Throughout his career, Matt has held a variety of roles with a focus on health promotion, health policy, public health professional development, and employee wellness. He currently serves on the Advisory Panel for the Region IV Public Health Training Center (2024–present) and is a graduate of the Tennessee Government Management Institute, Class of 2018. He also served on the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence Board of Examiners from 2016 to 2017.
Matt has maintained strong ties with his alma mater, having served as President of the WKU Music City Alumni Chapter from 2011 to 2017. He was named the Western Kentucky University Young Alumnus of the Year in 2010 and served on the WKU Alumni Association National Board of Directors from 2012 to 2015.
He resides in Franklin, Tennessee, with his family. In his free time, Matt enjoys exercising, listening to music, cooking, and spending quality time with family and friends. A true foodie at heart, he’s also an enthusiastic supporter of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, FC Cincinnati, and the WKU Hilltoppers.
