Ivona Coleman is a dedicated public health professional with more than a decade of experience serving the Monroe County community. As Community Health Improvement Manager with the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County, she leads the Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), guiding programs that strengthen wellness, resilience, and safety across the Florida Keys.
Her work centers on three priority areas: Access to Care, Substance Abuse and Mental Health, and Community Safety. To connect residents with essential health and social services, Ivona manages several innovative platforms, including the Access to Care App (access2care-mc.biz), KeysHealthyMind.org, and Monroe County’s Public Health Event Calendar (tockify.com/keysevents). She also oversees the Department’s swim voucher program (link), bike safety program (link), and suicide prevention through QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) trainings.
Ivona holds a Master of Science in Physical Education from Palacký University in the Czech Republic and a National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice (NCC AP, ATTUD). Earlier in her career, she worked with the Florida Keys AHEC for 10 years on tobacco prevention, behavioral health, and school wellness initiatives, and served in public safety with the Transportation Security Administration. She now applies this experience in her “gray sky” role as Logistics Section Chief during emergency responses for the Department.
Ivona also serves on the City of Key West Sustainability Advisory Board, the Consumer Advisory Board for Behavioral Health at Lower Keys Medical Center, and the Department’s Employee Recognition Program Committee.
