Riley Gulbronson

HIV and Mpox Epidemiologist
Tennessee Department of Health
Nashville, Tennessee

Riley Gulbronson (she/her) is an epidemiologist in the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) HIV, STI, and Viral Hepatitis Section located in Nashville, Tennessee. In her current role, Riley supports Tennesseans newly diagnosed and living with HIV through disease surveillance, analysis and dissemination of HIV data (including the annual Tennessee HIV Epidemiological Profile and associated HIV Data Dashboards), and continued outbreak detection and response efforts involving HIV and other syndemic health conditions. This work drives the development and implementation of evidence-based, targeted interventions to reduce HIV transmission rates, improve access to care and treatment, and address social determinants of health that disproportionately affect marginalized populations. Riley is passionate about promoting cultural competence, health data literacy, and language justice in order to cultivate an inclusive environment for both the public health workforce and the community it serves. She looks forward to participating in the Public Health and Primary Care Leadership Institute and enhancing her ability to navigate and lead through complex, public health challenges that lack clear-cut solutions.

Prior to TDH, Riley earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, before transitioning to a career in public health via the CDC Public Health Associate Program in 2020. Outside of work, she enjoys seeing live music throughout Nashville, exploring the outdoors with her dogs, and hosting board game nights for her friends and family.
