Aravind Pillai is a public health physician with nearly two decades of diverse experience spanning global health research and training, public health practice, and consulting. He joined the Kentucky Department for Public Health in 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In his role as an epidemiologist, he played a pivotal role in effectively managing COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care facilities across Kentucky. Currently, Aravind assumes a lead role in the antibiotic stewardship program within the Healthcare Associated Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance program while also closely monitoring COVID-19 outbreaks in nursing homes. Before his tenure at the Kentucky Department of Public Health, Aravind dedicated a decade to serving as a global health educator and researcher at Columbia University in New York. He possesses a deep understanding of global health challenges, a passion for improving health outcomes in diverse settings using innovative strategies, and critical expertise in epidemiology to address complex health problems. Aravind holds a doctoral degree in epidemiology from Columbia University and has received comprehensive medical and public health training from prestigious institutions in India
