Nyssa Owen Santos is the Isolation/Quarantine Manager within the Health Protection Division of the Georgia Department of Public Health. With a strong background in public health and crisis management, and holding an MPH and CHES certification, Nyssa plays a critical role in coordinating isolation and quarantine measures to safeguard community health. During the 39-month COVID-19 response, her team managed all elements of an isolation and quarantine facility that served some of Georgia’s most vulnerable populations. Her work involves liaising with healthcare providers, public health officials, and the public to streamline processes, address emerging health threats, and manage complex situations, all while ensuring compliance with health regulations.
Additionally, Nyssa was appointed as the lead planner for a new iteration of Georgia’s Medical Support Shelter, a temporary facility designed to provide basic medical supervision and support services to individuals affected by emergencies or disasters. This project requires ongoing collaboration with private and public partners, along with subject matter experts, to ensure DPH is ready to provide effective and timely support when needed.
Mrs. Owen Santos holds a Master of Public Health and has been a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) for over 7 years. She is also currently pursuing a Project Management Professional certification.
