Melissa King is a dedicated Lead Health Educator Consultant at the Florida Department of Health in Manatee County. In this position, she manages the tobacco prevention and control grant through the Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida. Melissa focuses on creating and implementing policies to reduce tobacco use and its impact on the community. Her role involves coordinating outreach activities, developing educational materials, and collaborating with local organizations to promote healthier lifestyles.

She is a Florida Gulf Coast University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health. She also received a Master of Health Services Administration from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Melissa is a Florida Board Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialist. This certification allows her to provide personalized support and guidance to those seeking to overcome tobacco addictions. She also facilitates free quit-smoking classes, develops tailored quit plans, and utilizes evidence-based strategies to assist her clients in achieving their goal of a smoke-free life.  Melissa is eager to build her leadership skills further to enhance her effectiveness and drive more significant health outcomes.
