Keisha Mays is the Manager of Performance Management and Continuous Improvement (PM/ CI) with the S.C. Department of Public Health (DPH). Currently, she serves as a Manager for PM/CI in DPH’s Health Strategy and External Affairs/Chief of Staff Office. Her role oversees the agency’s performance management program to develop a culture of performance management and continuous improvement across the agency.
Throughout her 19-year career in public health, she has accumulated diverse experience across various sectors, contributing to two South Carolina state government agencies and local nonprofits in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Her experience crosses a variety of public health programs including HIV/AIDS, maternal child health, organ and tissue donation, occupational safety and health administration, health coaching, project management, administrative management and grant administration.
Born and raised in Graniteville, South Carolina, Mrs. Mays holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Clemson University and Master of Public Health from the University of South Carolina. She maintains her Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), Project Management Professional (PMP), and National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) certifications. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated. Outside of DPH, she enjoys spending time with my husband, two toddler daughters, stepson, and stepdaughter; additionally, operating The Gestational Diabetes (GD) Mama, a subscription box company dedicated to women with gestational diabetes.
