I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. As a graduate of Middle Tennessee University, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Community and Public Health in 2013 and a Master of Public Health in 2019. I completed an internship with the Rutherford County Health Department in 2013. My internship introduced me to the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH), where I served as a health educator for over 7 years. Throughout my career as a health educator, I taught, facilitated seminars, and provided support resources for improving health disparities in the community. A key highlight was receiving a Platinum Level Brightspot Award (2018) from the TDH Office of Primary Prevention for Chef Academy, a student-based nutrition program. In my current position, I am the Local Engagement and Actions Director for TDH’s Office of Strategic Initiatives. I provide program management support to Health Councils and TDH staff during their assessment, planning, evaluation, and implementation of Community Health Assessments and Community Health Improvement Plans. In addition to my work, I serve on the board of the Tennessee Public Health Association leading the Health Promotion Section. I also serve on the executive board of the Pi Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In my spare time, I enjoy all things crafts, cooking, shoe shopping, and hiking.
