Jalena is a Registered Nurse of 23 years. She is a lifelong resident of the beautiful South Mississippi Gulf Coast. Jalena is honored to have served as a State of Mississippi employee for 15 years of Her RN career. Her love for working in medicine began at an early age while working in a Physician’s office thru Her high school’s co-op program. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s accelerated RN program allowed Jalena the educational pathway to obtain Her RN licensure at twenty years of age. Jalena’s RN career began in a large family practice clinic where She served as the Physician’s Primary RN. There She learned most of Her valuable clinical knowledge. Later, Jalena served many years as District Registered Nurse in the Biloxi Public School District. She coordinated a team of School Nurses in eight school clinics and coordinated medical care for district Special Education students. Jalena led in this capacity during and after Hurricane Katrina. She coordinated mass efforts to deliver medical care, supplies, and treatment in Her hometown during the devastating aftermath of that natural disaster. Currently, Jalena is serving as a Registered Nurse Case Manager, Office of Immunizations at Mississippi State Department of Health. She is able to use a vast array of skills and leadership to reach Mississippians from the outreach of public health services. Jalena enjoys spending Her time with Her daughter shopping, swimming, Beach trips, and watching Her daughter compete in softball and cheerleading. Jalena is honored and blessed to serve as a Leader in Mississippi.
