Dr. Hoover-Thompson is a licensed psychologist and the Director of Behavioral Health Integration for High Country Community Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center serving four counties in western NC. She has 12 years of experience working in rural, integrated primary care including direct patient care, grant writing, clinical and administrative supervision, and project management. As a consultant, she has provided trainings on de-escalation skills, trauma-informed care, rural practice, ethics, and integrated primary care to mental health and healthcare organizations, academic institutions, community service agencies, and non-profits. In addition to her professional role, she is an item writer for the professional licensure exam in psychology (EPPP; Part 2- Skills) and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Rural Mental Health.
