Deena Bell, MPA, serves as the University Collaboration Coordinator for the Kentucky Department for Public Health, a position she has held since January 2022. With a robust background in academia and behavioral health, Deena has brought a wealth of knowledge and a passion for education and community well-being to her role.
Under her leadership, Deena initiated a groundbreaking program that covers tuition costs and offers continuous learning opportunities for department staff, significantly enhancing professional development and expertise within the team. Her innovative approach also led to the establishment of Apprenticeships in Environmental Public Health, providing hands-on training that will cultivate a new generation of public health professionals.
Deena’s commitment to bridging the gap between academia and public health practice is evident in her successful partnerships with ten universities across Kentucky. These collaborations have created a dynamic exchange of knowledge and resources, benefitting both students and public health practitioners. By integrating academic insights with practical applications, Deena has strengthened the state’s public health initiatives, ensuring they are informed by the latest research and best practices.
