April Palmer is the Personal Responsibility Education Program Coordinator for the Alabama Department of Public Health, Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Branch. She provides opportunities and resources that promote the overall health and well-being of youth throughout the community with the goal to reduce the incidence of unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections among Alabama teens. April graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). During her time at UAB, she worked as a lifeguard for the UAB Recreation Center and the Hoover Recreation Center. April received the Life Saver Award from the City of Hoover, Alabama back in 2018 for rescuing two patrons from drowning. April also worked at Lakeshore Foundation as an aquatic specialist helping individuals with disabilities learn how to swim prior to her employment with the Public Health Department. In her free time, April enjoys swimming, dancing, and traveling with her husband.
